DJI Launches SDR Transmission 2 — 4km Range and Eight-Monitor Broadcast

DJI has officially announced the SDR Transmission 2 wireless video system, following its international debut at IBC 2026 in Amsterdam. The unit transmits DCI 4K at 60fps in 10-bit HDR over HDMI or DisplayPort, using H.265 encoding at up to 50Mbps, with a range of up to 4 kilometers — a 60% increase over the first generation's 2.5km — and 35ms of latency at the top encode rate.

Each transceiver in the new system can fully switch roles between transmitter and receiver, and a single transmitter can now broadcast to as many as eight receivers at once, each with independent control at the monitor. That matters on sets where a director, client, and DP are all following the same frame from different positions. Each unit weighs about 136 grams and carries one HDMI input and two USB-C ports. Global pricing (outside the US) starts at €349 for a single transceiver and €629 for a two-unit combo, with an SDI expansion kit at €169 — the system launched in China first, in early September, at different local pricing.

As of the announcement, DJI has not published US pricing or an availability date, and the spec sheet lists no FCC certification — only CE (Europe), SRRC (China), and MIC (Japan). DJI hasn't explained why, and Saudi Arabia is not among the markets officially confirmed for availability yet.
