Canva launches Affinity 3.3 with a free rival to Lightroom's RAW engine

Canva launched Canva ProSuite today, a bundle connecting its professional tools — Affinity, Cavalry, Flourish, and Leonardo — with over 100 new features spread across them. The bulk of the update landed on Affinity 3.3, which ships a completely rebuilt RAW development engine: faster processing, finer control over exposure, shadows and highlights, and more natural-looking color.

Among the notable additions are hue-preserving curves that hold color steady instead of shifting it when you adjust tone, plus separate saturation and hue curves borrowed from video editing workflows — alongside a dedicated Astrophotography Studio and global presets you can apply across a whole batch of images before touching layers and masks.

Affinity 3.3 is available now, free, for macOS and Windows, as it always has been; only some AI-powered features require a Canva Pro subscription (roughly $144/year). Canva's Duncan Clark, CEO of Pro Design, put it simply: "Professional craft matters more than ever... we want the Canva ProSuite to be where that craft lives and thrives."
